Stephan Heimbecher (born 1967) has been working at Sky Deutschland since July 2002. As the Head of Innovations & Standards in Technology, his post involves representing Sky on national and international committees, technical work with the major studios in Hollywood and technical innovation management at the company. Among other things he was responsible for the launch of Sky 3D in October 2010. The electrical engineering graduate began his career as a research associate at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), the research and development institute for the public broadcasters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After extensive work with DAB technology and audio coding, he applied himself to the standardisation of Digital TV for several years before changing to Top5 MediaConnection, a company of the then KirchGruppe, as manager of the consulting department in 2001.About SkySky is all about entertaining, exciting and inspiring customers with a completely new TV experience. The Sky brand stands for an unrivalled choice of television entertainment, high-quality programming that viewers cannot find elsewhere, innovative services and high satisfaction levels resulting from a strong customer service – all at great value. The core business of Sky is premium pay television. The company offers a wide range of programs including current films, new TV series and live sports, particularly the football Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the UEFA Champions League in Germany and Austria. Sky has set standards with its HDTV offering that currently comprises more than 40 channels, including the first 3D channel in Germany and Austria. The company also offers attractive films, live sports and adult entertainment on demand to its subscribers. The first 24-hour live sport news channel in Germany and Austria went on air on December 1, 2011. Sky distributes its programs digitally, mainly via satellite and cable. With this, it has a technical reach of approximately 41 million TV households in Germany and Austria. In April 2011, Sky introduced the new service Sky Go. It allows customers to watch their favorite programs wherever they are - at home or via the web on the PC. The Sky program is also available on mobile devices like the iPad or the iPhone - whenever and wherever customers want. Subscribers are able to access Sky Go on the Xbox 360 console since December 6, 2011.
