    Michael Carrington leads the creative development, original production, co-production, and programme acquisitions for Turner Broadcasting’s portfolio of children’s channels within the UK, Middle Eastand Africa (EMEA).  He also oversees several business units; Franchise Management, Programme Compliance, and Shared Creative Services.  And as General Manager of Cartoon Network Studios Arabia, Michael runs the development and production hub based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
    Since starting at Turner Broadcasting in April 2010 Michael has helped set up the Cartoon Network Animation Academy in the Middle East, commissioned new programmes like Ha Ha Hairies, the Ben 10 Challenge; successfully launched the companies first 100% EU production, The Amazing World of Gumball; and rolled out preschool brand Cartoonito across EMEA.  
    Michael has a deep understanding of how to deliver great content for children as evidenced by his work at the BBC where he successfully commissioned programmes like BAFTA award winner Charlie & Lola, International Emmy award winning, Shaun the Sheep, and critically acclaimed pre-school comedy drama hit Grandpa in My Pocket.  He led CBeebies to win BAFTA Children’s Channel fo the year, twice.
    Throughout his career Michael has worked for some of the world's premier media companies including Network Ten Australia, Discovery Channel (Europe), LEGO Media, and the BBC.
    Michael is a member of theBritishAcademy of Film & Television Arts, sits on The Children’s Media Conference committee, and regularly speaks at industry events.
