WHY USABILITY MATTERS FOR THE FUTURE OF TV. THE SESAME STREET KINECT EXAMPLE

Friday, 30th March 2012 from 4:10 PM to 4:40 PM

    La Brasserie

The success of anything interactive often comes down to usability - creating an experience that simplifies the complex and delights the user. As TV becomes more social and more interactive, usability will often distinguish the winners from the losers. This session will provide an overview of what Design Thinking is, how it can be used and why the TV industry needs to pay attention. It will also showcase the Sesame Street example, which is pioneering the use of the Microsoft Kinect in transforming TV from a passive experience to a highly immersive and engaging one. Is this the future for all TV?

    Louisa HEINRICH Louisa HEINRICH
    FJORD | Group Director/Strategy

Louisa is a big believer in the power of design to make sense of a complex world.  Before joining Fjord, she had been working in the design space for over 13 years, across sectors from media to financial to government to consumer goods; on both the client and the agency side. Now that technology has advanced to the point where the question has moved from 'what can this do?' to 'what should we do with it?', Louisa spends most of her time helping businesses small and large find more innovative and engaging means of accomplishing their goals and relating to their customers through the creative application of well-designed technology.
