Keynote Erwin M. Schmidt, Producer, Neue Road Movies, Germany Erwin Schmidt was 3D Producer on the Oscar-nominated feature-length dance spectacular Pina (“A film for Pina Bausch”) and directed by Wim Wenders. Erwin’s MIPtv Keynote will explain how this 3D production came about, how production challenges were overcome, 3D budgets achieved and how PINA achieved critical acclaim and a place on the Oscar’s ® Red Carpet. Erwin is now working on a series of ten 3D short films for TV. Wim Wenders is directing one of the episodes and executive producing the series.

Jim Chabin, President, International 3D Society, USA Jim has served as President of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Prime Time Emmys), President of Promax/BDA (The Worldwide Organization of Television Marketing Professionals), Head of Promotions for E! Entertainment Television, and Head of West Coast Marketing for the CBS Television Stations.
Jim will update delegates with Hollywood’s very latest thinking on 3D, and how for an increasing number of broadcasters they are taking 3D-TV to heart.

Jim Chabin serves as President of the International 3D Society, a worldwide community of 3D professionals advancing the arts and sciences of 3D. Mr. Chabin is the past President of the Academy of Televison Arts and Sciences, the worldwide organization which presents the Emmy Awards. He is also the past President of Promax and BDA, an educational professional organization of broadcast graphic designers and marketing professionals in 30 countries. Mr. Chabin also served as Vice President of National Promotion and Network Development for E! Entertainment Television, a Hollywood-based cable network, owned by Comcast. He also served as Western Marketing Manager for the CBS television stations. He began his career in radio broadcasting.
ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL 3D SOCIETY The International 3D Society has been founded to advance the art and technologies of stereoscopic 3D content and its professional innovators. The organization will host educational opportunities for showcasing work, recognizing achievement and advancing member growth. The International 3D Society is open to individuals and organizations active in moving 3D media to an exciting new era of creative achievement and consumer support.
Schmidt studied film production at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb) and is an EAVE graduate 2011. From 2004 to 2008 he worked as line producer for international co-productions. In 2009 he became the 3D Producer for Wim Wenders’ 3D dance film PINA (Berlinale Out of Competition 2011, Best European Documentary Prix Arte 2011, Oscar Nomination Best Documentary 2012). In 2010 he produced Wenders' 3D Video Installation IF BUILDINGS COULD TALK… (Architecture Biennale Venice 2010, Museum of Modern Art Tokyo 2011). At present he develops CATHEDRALS OF CULTURE, a European 3D television series about outstanding architecture. Besides his producing activities, Schmidt worked as head of protocol for the Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania (2006 – 2010) and coordinator of Cinelink Work In Progress at the Sarajevo Film Festival in Boasnia Herzegovina (2008 – 2011).
